It's Wedding Season!

Yes, folks, it's that time of year.  Love is in the air as Vince and Owen so graciously put it.  Caputo's Corner is proudly taking part in the festivities with two in the month of May (and one later this year in October, but it still counts).  Today's contribution will focus on the two weddings this month as we will be taking part in both.  Caputo's Corner offers our congratulations to:

Dave and Hilary Hosford (neé Lloyd)-married May 8th

Tom Back and Mellisa Wilson-to be married May 13th

Caputo's Corner has already attended Dave and Hilary's wedding last Sunday, and needless to say it was fantastic.  We arrived in the town of Easton Saturday evening for the celebration dinner at Martini's Restaurant.  Well done indeed.  We got to revisit and reminisce with the gang from our trip Dave's bachelor party in New Jersey last month...and did I mention that there was an open bar?  Dinner was excellent, buffet style with potatoes, asparagus, chicken, and pasta.  The family put together a slide show of the bride and groom in all of their elegance throughout their 28 or so years on this planet.  Caputo's Corner was even featured in some (less than flattering) of the photos in the slide show.  What can I say?  I've had my moments.  We can all laugh about them now on these happy occasions.  Following dinner, we continued the revelry next door at the Washington Street Pub.  We were even so fortunate as to run into another wedding celebration there, complete with bride, groom, and bridal party in all of their finery.

Quick aside: Apparently Easton is THE place to go to get hitched.  Dave and Hilary, Dustin and Carol, and now this wedding (we never did get their names).  Easton should nickname itself marriage capital of Maryland.  End aside

Anyway, we had a delightful time enjoying each other's company at the Washington Street Pub.  Afterward I retired back to Dustin and Carol's place (pretty convenient, right?) for the night.  The next day, we started out with church and breakfast, followed by a side trip to St. Michael's where Caputo's Corner paid a visit to the Eastern Shore Brewing Company.  For the first time in recorded history, Caputo's Corner drank a "flight" of beer.  What is a "flight" you ask?  It is a quintet of 5 ounce glasses of beer.  The 5 glasses were filled with samples from the microbrews from the brewery (of course).  We had our choice of light, ale, IPA, porter, and hefeweizen.  My personal favorite was the ale (I am partial to ales), and my least favorite was the hef...too much citrus for my taste.  Here is a picture of a flight.

After our trip to the brewery, we went back and took a power nap.  I got on my suit and embarked on the complementary shuttle from the Easton Hampton Inn to the Royal Oaks Waterfront Inn just outside of the town off of Route 33.  Speaking of Wedding Crashers, I swear this place looked like the house from the movie.  It was filmed outside of Easton after all (remember the aside?).  It wasn't, but it was sure close.  The ceremony started at 5:30...and was done before 6.  It was very nice and sweet.  You could definitely tell that the bride and groom were just thrilled to be together.  After the ceremony we had cocktail hour.  I drank Bacardi and Diet Coke...pretty bold for a beer guy like myself.  And oh yes, there was an open bar, very important.  Dinner consisted of sirloin steak, a real Maryland crab cake, green beans, and potatoes.  Deeeeeeelightful!  Dinner was followed by dancing and revelry from about 8 until last call at 11.  The shuttle took us back to the hotel upon which time I retired back to Dustin and Carol's.

Caputo's Corner would like to thank the Hosford and Lloyd family for their abundant generosity in allowing all of us to partake in Dave and Hilary's joy on their wedding day.  It is most appreciated.

Ah, but wedding season is not over!  Caputo's Corner will have full highlights from the Back/Wilson wedding on Friday.  Look for that in the following days here at Caputo's Corner.
