7th Runner Up-Ka'imi Fairbairn (Houston K). JP nominated "Kent's kicker" using the logic that kickers are people too and without Kent's kicker he would not have won at least 5 games that he did. Sound logic, perhaps Kent will use his 1st round pick on a kicker next year. You can never be too careful....
6th Runner Up-Kenyan Drake (Miami RB). Drake split carries with Frank Gore most of the season and his biggest highlight was being the last guy to touch the ball on a Stanford Band style play to beat the Patriots. Trick plays and wildcats have been New England's doom against the Dolphins over the years. They just can't figure out how to beat them...unless they cheat?

5th Runner Up-Tyreek Hill (Kansas City WR). Tyreek the Cheetah may have taken over the mantle for the fastest dude in the NFL, but I think when we get to the end of this list you will see why he did not make the top of the podium. Let's just say that wideouts need a little help to do what they do. If there was an MVP for most number of pre-score finger-wagging celebrations, this guy would win it hands down.
4th Runner Up-Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh WR). Kind of the same logic as Hill, but Brown is a much better overall receiver, although not quite as fast. His quarterbacks sucks too, so that moves him up a peg.
3rd Runner Up-Zach Ertz (Philadelphia TE). Tight ends don't get a lot of love on these MVP lists, so let's give the Ertz Donut a little love here. Yeah he plays for the Eagles, whose fans love to eat horse poo off the street, but we won't hold that against him. He had a fine season for a tight end. Perhaps Travis Kelce was better, but.......
2nd Runner Up-Todd Gurley (LA Rams RB). As in the past, you got to do some serious damage if you're gonna win this award twice. Gurley was the MVP in 2017, and didn't really do much to lose his throne this year, so the guys who beat him must've really done something spectacular.
1st Runner Up-Christian McCaffrey (Panthers RB). I wanted to give it to McCaffrey. I really did. Why? This.
Yes sir! Thanks to Mr. CMC as well as a well funded supporting cast, your (not so) humble commissioner is the 2018 champion of the "In Memory of Tebowing League!" Cue the celebration...
Yeah my luck in MIISFFL was not so good, but there's always next year. CMC was a true workhorse, especially in the 2nd half of the season, and once the Panthers decided to give him the ball on the goal line instead of Carolina Cam, his value skyrocketed. But alas, this is MIISFFL, and the true MVP has to be this guy........
PATRICK MAHOMES! (Kansas City QB)
The dude was a touchdown throwing machine. Wonder why Alex Smith left? His dad was a journeyman baseball pitcher, but so far Patrick Jr. is already one up on his old man in terms of Fantasy MVP awards. Not a bad start to the career. Statistically, so far this year he has 4800 yards, and assuming the Chiefs don't rest players on Sunday, almost certainly will get 5000. 48 touchdowns to only 11 picks? I think it's safe to assume he was a huge reason his manager not only made the playoffs, but also did what he did when he got there. Who was his manager???
Menace Bowl X was a race to see who could beat Kent first. Kent was like that booger you couldn't flick off your finger after you pick your nose. He just kept winning down the stretch. Sean met Kent in the semifinals with a chance to double up on his 8.62 point semifinal win in 2013. Alas though, his attempt at 17.24 came up way short in kind of as anticlimactic a semifinal round as you'll see, falling to Kent 125-106. This was despite Sean entering the playoffs as the #1 seed. In the other semi, Nate took on perennial playoff choker Chris. Chris's squad got word that he was in the playoffs again, and proceeded to do exactly what every team Chris team had done before. 89 points are you kidding me? He averaged 140 points a game in the regular season! Nate didn't exactly light the world on fire scoring 97 himself (meanwhile Sean says C'mon man!). But in this playoff it was more than good enough, setting up Nate as the world's last hope to toppling Kent, who was going for his second MIISFFL title, and first since 2010. Fortunately for Western Civilization, Nate's squad got the message that it was playoff time. The league MVP scored 33, and all but 2 of his other positions scored double digits, including 3 more 20 point scores. As for the Shadynasty, Andrew Luck and Elijah McGuire did their job (it was a really good week to own New York Jets for some reason), but a glaring -1 from Josh Adams was the sorest of thumbs, although it might not have ultimately mattered. Kent settles for second best, and that means that the 2018 champion of MIISFFL is...
NATE STURM!
Congratulations Nate! His playoff life might have gone on life support following Krispy Kareem's caught-on-camera moment (thanks TMZ!), but he was able to overcome with some shrewd waiver wire work in the last few weeks of the season. Nate wins it all in only his 3rd year in MIISFFL, and earns the milestone 10th MIISFFL championship!
With the 2018 season in the books, let's look at the payouts.
Nate-$490 and trophy (Champion and 4 weeklies)
Kent-$155 (Runner up and 1 weekly)
Chris-$95 (Semifinalist and 4 weeklies)
Chris-$95 (Semifinalist and 4 weeklies)
Sean-$85 (Semifinalist and 2 weeklies)
Dewey-$10 (2 weeklies)
Patrick-$5 (1 weekly)
Remember that you can roll over your earnings to next season should you so desire. You better believe we will be back for MIISFFL 2019. Let me know what your pleasure is. I will be paying people off after the Super Bowl.
Next up is the draft order. Draft order for non playoff teams is based on reverse order of standings. Semifinal losers are also slotted based on regular season record (worse record gets higher draft choice).
1) JP
2) Nick
3) Jeff
4) Bruce
5) Tom
6) Dewey
7) Patrick
8) Zach
9) Chris
10) Sean
11) Kent
12) Nate
Considering that we ended up tabling the Spring Meeting this year, I would like to get that on the books again. Now...SOMEBODY is having a Bachelor party in March, so I would like to do this a little earlier in the year than in the past. Sometime in mid to late February. Stay tuned. Later in the summer of course I will send out information regarding Free Agent and Trade weeks, as well as a summary of business conducted at the Spring Meeting.
Gentlemen, I know the Mashups have not been as frequent this year, but it was once again a pleasure to be your commissioner. I'll be back for 2019 and hopefully you will be too. Happy New Year!
Nick
