Menace Mashup 2017: Week 4

Abbreviated mashup today.  I just finished writing a paper for my grad class and I've got some regular work to catch up on today so I have to keep it brief, but because I know this is what you're all thinking, the commish took a bath this weekend.  Lost in both of my fantasy leagues and the Redskins showed last night why they are not, nor ever have been, an elite football team (and don't try to ask me what the hell that was on the last play of the game...cue the Benny Hill theme).

How did the champ do? It was a battle of the last two champions of MIISFFL, and a battle of dudes who are a combined 2-4 coming into the season with the 2 wins coming over the same dude with both wins coming by less than a point, so these dudes were 0.7 away from being 0-6 combined.  Got that?  Anyway, someone had to win and dare I say they both put up respectable performances.  La'veon Bell finally put up numbers worthy of a Fantasy MVP finding the end zone twice.  Dewey also got an elite score from Jameis Winston but it was JP's squad this time that had the better supporting cast with 4 more double digit score and no position being an obvious red flag.  Dewey merely scored a point with the Tampa defense.  Of course this version of the Buccaneer Bowl would come down to that.  JP defeats Dewey 123-106

Game of the Week:  Don't look now, but Zach has quietly amassed himself a 4-0 record.  Largely flying under the radar thanks to big scores from Nate and Jeff the last 3 weeks, Zach stuck his neck out there this week posting a 150 on Patrick who would've have defeated everyone else except one other team with his 126.  Todd Gurley is putting himself into the MVP conversation after a big day in Dallas and Travis Kelce is playing a mighty fine supporting role on Zach's team and to Kareem Hunt.  Two additional 20-point scores from Rivers and Hopkins were plenty to overcome a 3-point effort from Melvin Gordon (GO CHAJAS GO!).  Patrick had 20-point scores from A-a-Ron, Zeke, and Tyrell Williams, but on this day it just wasn't good enough as he falls to 1-3 falling to Zach 150-126.

Blowout of the Week:  As mentioned in the opening, the commish took a bath in more ways than one this week.  The loss of David Johnson might prove to be fatal as in this one the commish didn't even put up a fight.  40 points left on the bench from two more running backs didn't help, but even if they started it would've only served to narrow the score.  To add insult to injury, that calamity of errors on the last play last night cost Chris Thompson 3 points on a lost fumble (of course THIS is the week he comes back to Earth after I start him).  Bruce didn't need to do much but he did anyway as Lamar Miller and the Seattle D led the way and he even got 19 points from the kicker who kicked a 61 yarder last week.  Bruce looks right at home in the MIISFFL universe as he is right in it at 2-2 defeating Nick 126-72.

Futility Bowl: Poor Tom.  Given a chance in a matchup of 0-3 teams, Tom had a golden opportunity to get off the schneid.  Then Julio left the game with a hip flexor and Dalvin Cook tore his ACL on a non-contact injury and he's out for life.  Tom might have to enter tank mode soon to try and get that #1 pick in 2018 if his luck doesn't change real fast.  Chris was the beneficiary as Russell Wilson had a good score, but nobody else really lit the scoreboard up.  It proved to be enough as he squeaked by Tom in his return to the Futility Bowl by a score of 106-89.

This week's other results:
Nate (4-0) defeated Sean (2-2) 100-78
Jeff (4-0) defeated Kent (2-2) 116-78
Weekly pot winner: Zach (150 points)

Watch out, there may only be one 4-0 team left in the NFL, but we got 3 in MIISFFL.  The playoff race might be over before the halfway point unless the rest of these bums can get their posteriors in gear.  See you next week.
