James Harrison Needs Immodium AD...

...for his diarrhea of the mouth.  I just couldn't ignore this.  We all know James Harrison is a hard hitter.  The former defensive player of the year and Super Bowl MVP knows how to deliver punishing hits, but I'm sorry, when you go Superman on a defenseless receiver, like what he did to Mohammad Massaquoi in this picture below, you will get fined.  I don't care what your definition of playing hard is, you can't launch yourself.  Love it or loathe it, that's the rule.  Check it out.

Unfortunately, Harrison still doesn't quite get it.  In a recent interview he did for Men's Journal, he gave a somewhat colorful interview stating his displeasure with both the rule system, some of his own teammates, and Roger Goodell in particular.  I'm not going to repeat what he said, you can read them here if you really want to.  You want to make a point?  Fine.  Do it a little more tactfully, though.  I don't necessarily agree with his point.  Good defense does not include going on a perpetual head-hunting mission.  Your goal should be to tackle the ball-carrier or break up the pass.  If you get lucky, you might even get an interception or force a fumble.  Yes, I understand that having a reputation as a hard hitter puts fear into certain players, but that doesn't necessarily achieve your on-field objective.  All it does (at least in Harrison's case) is get you fined and potentially suspended (and he was not suspended once, despite some tough talk from Goodell about helmet-to-helmet hits leading up to the 2010 season).

Just play the game, James.  You worry too much about what Roger Goodell thinks of you (or about what you think of him), you lose your effectiveness as a linebacker, which I'm sure would be music to the ears of the rest of the AFC North.
