Usually when you do something illegal, there is some kind of consequence (from something as simple as a reprimand all the way to jail time). Usually, when people do something illegal, law enforcement does not do illegal things to help the lawbreakers perform said illegal activities.
Then again, in the
You see, in the story I just linked to you, the LAPD's own police chief has gone on the record to tell his officers to ignore a statute requiring them to impound vehicles driven by unlicenced drivers. Most unlicenced drivers are illegal immigrants..........
ILLEGAL!!!!!!! This means they are BREAKING THE LAW!!!!
Yes, folks, a bona-fide law enforcement agency is going to break a law (not enforcing a law) for people who already are breaking another law.
Why do you ask?
Because it's not fair! (Cue crying babies and violins in the background)
I don't usually discuss illegal immigration here, but this is outright rediculous. The law is on the books because crime statistics (the stats never lie people) indicate that unlicensed drivers are some of the most unsafe in the country, and are more likely to flee the scene, forcing police pursuit and putting even more lives in danger. It's a very sensible law. It is illegal to drive without a license, so if you don't have one, you are BREAKING THE LAW!
But it's not fair!!!!!
You know what else is not fair? It's not fair that there are hundreds of millions of law-abiding citizens in this country who go to work every day, do their jobs, pay their taxes, and earn an honest wage to support themselves and their families. This is one of the many reasons why this country is great: hard-working people who give to society of their own willing (NOT because the government told them to) and teach morals and values to the next generation. What the LAPD's actions are doing here is yet another example of the exact opposite.
Don't worry, you are doing something bad, and we're going to tell you it's OK by doing something bad with you
It's not fair that certain people are getting preferential treatment because of their illegal status....because we don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, right?
(The babies are still crying and the violins are still playing)
