Menace Mashup 2014: Week 8

Consider this the mashup mea culpa.

Unfortunately, lab reports, algebra tests, PLC meetings, and other associated job related duties have precluded me from writing a full mashup this week, so this is a 2-day late abbreviated version.

Congratulations to Eddie!  With is 139-132 win over Dewey this week, he secures the all time MIISFFL record for consecutive victories (spanning playoffs and 2 seasons) with 13.  Dewey gave him a run for his money with Dez Bryant looking to drop the hammer on Monday night, but Bashaud Breeland had other ideas.  Dez did find paydirt once, but Breeland made sure he didn't find it again.  Eddie has a 3 game lead with only 4 games to play in the NFC

While Sean is setting records for consecutive wins, JP is looking to set records in the other direction.  Sean takes care of the Techmo super stars to stay within breathing distance of Eddie (like that matters), but JP's 8th loss of the season is his 9th consecutive dating back to last season.  He is only two losses away (potentially) from being completely eliminated from playoff contention before we even get to the league meeting!  Sean on the other hand is hoping for some black magic this Halloween as he is pretty much just fighting for a wild card.

Jeff clawed his way back to .500 finishing strong with a 29 point win over the commish, and most of those points coming in the Sunday night game.  He entered the featured contest with a 20 point deficit, but huge days from Jimmy Graham and Aaron Rodgers (with  Travaris Cadet in a supporting role) not only covered that margin, but gave Jeff the high score of the week.  The commish's back to back wins don't look so good right now at 3-5, but still 2 games back of the 2nd wild card.

Kent rebounded from his loss to Chris with a 30-point win over Gaz, who like the commish made a push recently, but now is in the bottom cesspool of chasers at 3-5.  At 6-2, it is looking like Kent and Chris will be in a dogfight to see who takes the AFC at the end of the year, as the two of them are 2 games clear of the field in that conference.  Watch out for Kent's trade arrows as we approach the deadline in a few weeks.

Speaking of Chris, he kept pace with a 36-point win over the team formerly known as the Extreme Team.  At 3-5, Tom has a far better chance at catching the leaders in the AFC than in the NFC, but a loss to one of the co-leaders did not help his cause.  His score of 93.7 was the only score to not hit triple digits in a week when scoring across the board was high.  He can thank 4 of his dudes for not even getting over 5 points for the week.  Chris has now won 5 in a row himself and is looking to be a formidable force coming down the stretch.

Finally this week, Zach pulls level with Patrick at .500 despite Alfred Morris finally having a good game against the Cowboys (and the Redskins winning period).  That would normally have been bad news for The Vick-stars since Romo was Romo'ed in the 3rd quarter with a back injury, but Patrick could not close the deficit as Colt McCoy  ended up being the hero on Monday night.  Both players are only 1 game back of Sean for the 2nd wild card spot.

That concludes this week's abbreviated mashup.  Next week we will be back to full strength, I promise (I finished grading the labs this afternoon).

Next week:

Eddie-Chris (Chris looks to end the record streak and keep his own going)
Nick-Sean (If the commish is gonna catch up in the wild card race, this is the game to win)
Kent-Patrick (If Eddie takes care of Chris, Kent looks to gain)
Zach-Jeff  (Elimination game for a pair of 4-4s?)
Tom-Dewey (Yawn)
Gaz-JP (Does JP seriously challenge his '76 Buccos and the '08 Lions?)

TRADE DEADLINE: November 12th
LEAGUE MEETING: November 16th
