Official MIISFFL villain Kent is clamoring for a Mashup this week because his pathetic excuse for a team (supported by facts and empirical evidence of course) somehow managed to eek out a win this week over Nate. Meanwhile, everybody else will be quick to remind him that he is still second from the bottom of the league in total points scored, and second from dead last in his division. A scoring title probably seems a tad out of reach for our primary antagonist, and if it weren't for scoring bonuses, he WOULD be last (poor Jeff). We'll see how eager he is to get a Mashup for week 3 when he renews an old rivalry with Tom. Last week Tom was in the Blowout of the Week item for all the wrong reasons. He's back in the Blowout of the Week item this week, but not for the same reason. Scoring bonuses would not have saved Jeff this week.
Injuries abound as usual this time of year. However, in our quest to find a week 1 waiver wire explosion we were left sorely disappointed. After Patrick blew his FAAB wad in the preseason, the best we could hope for was a $26 splurge on a tight end by yours truly (so much for that...). With Adrian Peterson going down again (AGAIN!), Jerrick McKinnon's value just went up so look for a bidding war...........
.....oh yeah that's right. I already own him hehe. Onto the recaps.
How did the champ do? JP is well on his way to backing up a worst-to-first campaign with a first-to-worst campaign. It's as the old saying goes, "if you ain't first, you last." JP apparently has taken that motto to heart and looks to be respectfully yielding the title to somebody else. Better get that engraving pen ready. Incredibly, Patrick was the beneficiary this week, not only posting the high score at 137, but having 4 players score over 20 points in what was an across the board down week for scoring. Players were finding the end zone this week, no doubt, just not the ones in our starting lineups. JP looks to get right next week against the commish.
Game of the week Not a lot of candidates for this one actually as JP and Patrick were the only matchup where both players topped 100 points. However this week we will give it to Chris and Zach, won by Chris with a respectable 131 points. Chris gets his second Game of the Week victory once again behind Ben the Rapist and an opportunistic Arizona defense. Did I mention that he also had his kicker score 15 points. Yes, the kicker added 15 big ones to Chris's score in the Game of the Week. Once again Chris appears to be setting the table for another substantial regular season run. If you've followed MIISFFL over the past couple of years, you would already know how this story ends for Chris. Enjoy that run in the regular season now, the playoffs are only 12 weeks away.
Blowout of the Week Not a whole lot to choose from again with low scores across the board, but in an interesting turnaround from Week 1, Tom gets into this item on the giving end of a 33 point beatdown instead of being on the business end of one. Quite the turnaround since he was served a 60 point drubbing last week. Could this be the start of a boom or bust 7-7 season for Tom, who has only made the playoffs once since the inception of MIISFFL in 2009? Carolina Cam led the way with 36 points making him the high scorer of the week. As for Jeff, can't blame this one on scoring bonuses, bub. You done got p'wned, son.
The Futility Bowl Now here we have one where we had several candidates. Nick and Eddie looked to be it until Ed got some prime time magic from Stephon Diggs and Alshon Jeffrey. However, the Futility Bowl this week goes to Dewey and Sean, as they were the matchup where neither team managed to crack the magical 100 point barrier. In classic Futility Bowl fashion, Dewey scored the win despite not one, but TWO players putting up red numbers this week, and might I add that they were BOTH Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Jameis Winston and the D). You think that might be a sign from above there, buddy? As for Sean, the 2014 champ falls to 0-2 and last in the league, but at least he didn't post any negative scores this week.
This weeks other results:
Eddie defeated Nick 117-86
Kent defeated Nate 104-99
Weekly pot winner: Patrick (137 points)
Look at it this way, Kent, at least I spared you the indignation of being put in the Futility Bowl...again.
Dang, didn't know AP went down!!!!
