As the title might suggest, yes, blogosphere, I am back at the beach. I am writing the post from the comfy confines of the home of Aunt Carol in Ocean View, DE. Ocean View is about 2 miles from the Atlantic Ocean just outside of Bethany Beach. Unlike my last trip to the beach (chronicled in this post here), I am here basically by myself, and I am here for the entire week (which is partially why I've gone a few days between contributions). I am here because my little cousin who's going into the 5th grade needs a little help in math. So I'm tutoring her for the week. So this is technically a "working vacation," but with major emphasis on the vacation.
While I'm down here I intend on doing several things I did not get the chance to do while I was down here last, mostly because the last time I was here I was only here for two and a half days. I've already played a round of mini golf (with Caputo's Corner reader Pat), and I've gotten the chance to stroll up and down both the Bethany Beach and Ocean City boardwalks, play arcade games, and the like. I was only able to rack up 300 tickets after spending 10 bucks at Sportland on the OC boards...my skeeball skills need refining.
Something else I'm doing down here is (...wait for it...) READING! OK, so the book blog people (Erin, I'm looking at you) will probably roll their eyes and be like "whatever," but reading for fun is really not something I do a lot. IIn fact, the last 4 books I read for fun were all read at the beach. I don't know why, but sitting on the beach is really the only place I feel the inclination to read. Maybe it's the sound of pounding surf that makes me want to crack open a book. My latest reading project is The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (thanks, Jena :-)). For those of you who don't know, this is the third book in the Robert Langdon trilogy. Yes, I did read both The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons (DaVinci I read at the beach last year), and as hard as it is to believe, I actually enjoyed them both. As I write this, I am currently on chapter 78 of The Lost Symbol, and while I must admit it's a bit cryptic, I am enjoying this one as well. It also helps that there are short chapters (meaning plenty of places to take a natural pause should I so desire). Now, while I am enjoying the reading, and I also have another Dan Brown piece (Deception Point) in the event I finish The Lost Symbol with time to spare before I go home, don't expect Caputo's Corner to turn into Caputo's Book Review, oh no. This blog will continue to focus on the same things I've focused on since I started this blog in January: football, science, the Great American Road Trip, and anything else that tickles my fancy at that particular moment in time.
