FBL Update: Round 1

Don't call this weekend the 2nd and 3rd round people...the "play-in"games were just that...play-in games!

Anyway, FBL 2011 is underway and the first round provided quite exciting moments and a few upsets.  How did the league do?  Well, nobody's going to win $1 million, but we did have some pretty good scores, led by....

ME!!!

OK, please rest assured that I did not put the fix in...if I had that ability there'd be a few things different right now :-).  However, I scored 28/32...this is by far the best I have ever done in the 1st round.  We'll see how long it lasts.  Anyway, here are the current standings of FBL 2011 after 1 round of action (national champion in parentheses):

1) Nick Caputo (Kansas)-28 points

2) Jeff Newman (Ohio State)-26 points

T3) Brendan Boettinger (Kansas), Mom (Ohio State), Pat Deegan (Kansas)-25 points

T6) Lewis Goode (Ohio State), Steve Bradford (Duke)-24 points

T8) Harvey Barbee (Ohio State), John Paul Chase (Connecticut), Patrick Small (North Carolina), Laura Caputo (Kansas), Dad (Kansas)-23 points

T13) Thomas McDonald (Kansas), Anthony Fiumara (Kansas), Stephen Miura (St. Johns-Eliminated), Steve Donahue-defending champion (Duke), Ron Bodine (Ohio State), Josh Lattanzi (Ohio State)-22 points

T19) Jim Six (Kansas), Andrew Kent (Pittsburgh), Joe Land (Duke), Jess Daffan (Notre Dame), Abby Moynihan (Ohio State), Chris McAllister (Pittsburgh), Judy Land (Duke)-21 points

T26) Andrew Illuminati (Kansas), Joe Scafone (North Carolina)-20 points

It's still just anybody's game as Round 2 begins TODAY!  Good luck!

  1. You might want to double-check the champion I selected. I decided to be a little bold.

  2. Yes, I know you realllllly want Maryland to win it all, but alas, they are not even good enough for the not-invited-tournament. That being said, would you rather I not look at the final score you selected which clearly had Ohio State winning (84-80) and instead simply ridicule you for not formally selecting a national champion winner? Would you rather I lump you in with the guy that had the audacity to pick St. John's to win it all?

OK, if you say so :-).
