...the bill in Wisconsin eliminating collective bargaining rights for public sector unions is passed in the Senate. Coincidence? Perhaps. However, when he says things like "this is war" on the GOP and Gov. Scott Walker, perhaps not. Yes, he used the terms "non-violently" later in his rant on the Rachel Maddow show, but if you've listened to anything this guy has said lately, you would have a hard time believing that anything he supports would be "non-violent."
What do you think Michael Moore would say if Scott Walker declared "war" on public sector unions? Just saying.
I'll go back to something I noted in a previous post on this subject. The state of Wisconsin is in $3.6 billion of its own debt. That is money that needs to be paid. How are they going to do it? One option is to lay several state employees off. That will save money (what do the unions have to say about that option?). The other is to renegotiate the contracts, like what the governor is trying to do. Taking away collective bargaining does not take away any benefits! It seems pretty simple to me. Sure beats the heck out of laying off a ton of people.
However, people like Michael Moore would have you believe that the unions cannot get enough money. It's all trapped in the hands of evil, greedy, millionaires and billionaires...millionaires and billionaires who are never taxed enough. Congratulations for being successful...now turn all your wealth around and give it to the government! Hmmm, I wonder if wealthy folks like George Soros are on Michael Moore's list of people who need to hand it over. How much of Michael Moore's own wealth has he given to the common people? He obviously has enough to spring Julian Assange out of jail. Seems pretty hypocritical if you ask me.
We shall see. The governor is obviously sticking to his guns. Democrats would call that admirable if it were a Democrat governor. I don't really see a problem with Walker using political tactics in line with what Democrats have done in the past at all levels (like taking health care votes in the dead of night when nobody is watching). If Nancy Pelosi can walk through a huge crowd of people with a gigantic gavel after the Democrats won in 2008, Scott Walker to take advantage of parliamentary procedure to pass a bill through the Senate.
Meanwhile, the screaming continues. Recall efforts are already underway to get Walker out of office (as well as several Republican Senators). Not to be outdone, efforts are also out there to recall the Democratic senators who ran away to Illinois. How about this, Democrats? Let the people who won the elections govern for a change. Wouldn't you want it that way if the roles were reversed (which they were for several years before 2010)? Just asking.
