24 Hour CBA Extension

Last night was supposed to be the expiration of the CBA (at 11:59PM).  However, thanks to mediation, a proposal by the owners, and a 24 hour request by the owners, the deadline was extentded to 11:59 tonight.  Right now, federal mediator George Cohen is encouraging both sides to extend the deadline further (7-10 days).

The key thing to keep an eye on is the decertification of the union.  Once the union decertifies, it's open season: lawsuits and litigation all over the  place.  The union has until 4PM today to decertify in time to initiate court proceedings against the league (barring another extension).  When this thing is resolved one way or another, you know you will get coverage and analysis here on Caputo's Corner.
