Alright, everyone, the first weekend is behind us in March Madness...and for some strange reason Caputo's Corner is still in the lead. I did not plan on this, nor do I expect to stay here. To calm everyone's fears of a fix (which I'm sure is running rampant in the fantasy blogosphere), my first elite 8 team (K-State) went down in flames last night. So my dreams of a perfect regional final are toast. Also, considering I went with mostly chalk (again...I didn't really study up this year), none of my picks were that stunning. Now, if I had picked Morehead State to beat Louisville, well then yeah everyone would (and should) have a beef.
Alright, enough mea culpas, let's get to the 2nd round standings:
1) Nick Caputo (Kansas)-48 points
T2) Lewis Goode (Ohio State); Jeff Newman (Ohio State)-44 points
T4) Brendan Boettinger (Kansas); Pat Deegan (Kansas); Laura Caputo (Kansas)-43 points
T7) Mom (Ohio State); John Paul Chase (Connecticut); Dad (Kansas)-41 points
T10) Anthony Fiumara (Kansas); Steve Bradford (Duke)-40 points
T12) Harvey Barbee (Ohio State); Andrew Kent (Pittsburgh-Eliminated); Patrick Small (North Carolina); Abby Moynihan (Ohio State)-39 points
T16) Steve Donahue-Defending Champion (Duke); Ron Bodine (Ohio State); Josh Lattanzi (Ohio State)-38 points
19) Judy Land (Duke)-37 points
T20) Andrew Illuminati (Kansas); Thomas McDonald (Kansas); Stephen Miura (St. Johns-Eliminated)-36 points
T23) Joe Land (Duke); Jess Daffan (Notre Dame-Eliminated); Chris McAllister (Pittsburgh-Eliminated)-35 points
26) Jim Six (Kansas)-33 points
27) Joe Scafone (North Carolina)-32 points
If you are interested in projecting winners this far out, the most important number right now is the PPR (that is Possible Points Remaining). As long as you don't have the word "eliminated" next to your national champion, there is always a shot for you. Remember, there's always the 2nd chance game.
That will be it for today. There will be no post tonight as I am attending a special teacher's dinner in Catonsville. Therefore, I leave you for the day with this. Even if your brackets have been reduced to dog food, always remember that you are not these guys:
We in Arizona are just happy the Wild Cats made it to the Sweet 16. Uncle Bill, a huge fan, is hoping the 3 hour time distance will put a crimp in Duke's game.
