Last night I had over at the new command center Caputo's Corner readers AK and Jeff for a "trial run" of sorts, trying out the new grill (CharBroil Baby), watching some baseball, drinking some beer and just chillin' out. It went very well. The boys had a good time, the burgers and dogs tasted great coming off the grill (my second consecutive successful dinner...see below), and the beer and ice cream were cold. Mint chocoloate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough....parties in your mouth.
The night before (Thursday), I cooked up mom's recipe for spaghetti sauce for Dad and Joe...another success. It's a very simple recipe, but considering my checkered culinary past (I'm loving this alliteration), I consider both meals to be rousing successes. My next project will be involving chicken breast. At the grocery store yesterday, I picked up some pretty good looking Perdue breasts. AK suggested one recipe involving a can of cream of mushroom soup. I'm always looking for new ideas.
Speaking of chicken, today's menu will be fried chicken. No, no...I'm not doing the frying. Today is the annual Clarksville Picnic at St. Louis in Clarksville. Fried chicken, ham, cucumbers, applesause, are the main course. Not to be outdone, you have your choice of midway fast food fare (burgers, dogs, za, funnel cake, snocones). Always a good time, and it supports the church.
Does anybody have any ideas for some interesting recipes Caputo's Corner can try? I could get used to this executive chef act. Leave your ideas in the comments below.
