Next Monday to Wednesday, Caputo's Corner will be in Philadelphia, PA to attend the ISTE (International Society for Technology Education) Conference. We will be reporting on location from the land of the Philadelphia Eagle Fan (a very curious breed indeed). In today's post, I give you a short primer of what to expect. First, about the conference:
As part of the Resurrection St. Paul School STEM school, our staff is participating in abundant professional development, specifically in science and technology. Earlier in the school year, several teachers (myself included) attended the MSET (Maryland Society for Education in Technology) conference in Baltimore. For me, I attended this conference as part of the MSPP project I have been working on since last summer. MSET is a local arm of ISTE, which is the worldwide technology organization (hence the "International"). This year, they are in Philadelphia, so they are close enough that RSPS is sending 3 of us to see what this conference is all about. As of right now, I am planning on attending a few sessions. The conference website offers a conference planner, where I have organized the sessions I have saved so far. Right now, I am planning on attending sessions on:
-Multiuser Virtual Environments
-Robotics (Design and Curriculum Integration)
-Hands-on STEM learning
-Implementation of STEM cross-curricular
Hopefully I'll have some good stuff to report on from these sessions. I intend on looking for other sessions once I get to the conference on Monday (starting with a "newbie" session on Monday morning). We leave Monday morning at the crack of dawn so that we can get there on time. The newbie session starts at 8:30.
Also as part of Caputo's Corner's trip to Philadelphia, we'll be (hopefully) taking in some of the sights, sounds, and cuisine (i.e. cheesesteak). We might make fun of Eagles' fans too. Should be some fun stuff. I am looking forward to it, and hopefully you are too.
