Welcome to the third and final day of ISTE 2011 here in Philadelphia. This morning, before checking out of the hotel, Sue and I walked the 7 blocks or so down Market Street from City Hall to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and Benjamin Franklin's grave. It is quite fascinating to walk through the historic district. As much as I like to poke fun at this city for its sports teams (and believe me, there's lots to poke fun at), there really is so much you can learn about American History by being here. In 11th grade (Bersin's AP US History class) we took a field trip up here. After a 2 hour bus ride that was nothing but profanity laced tirades about Philadelphia sports, we stopped at Independence Square. Back then, you could actually touch the Liberty Bell. Nowadays it has a glass casing to protect it from vandalism. Pretty shameful that it has to come to that.
Today's plan at ISTE is pretty simple. My objective is to just finish the exhibit hall (following my 3 simple rules of course). Right now, Sue wants to get on the road by about 1 or 2 o'clock, so this probably will be my last transmission from the bowels of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It has been a pleasure providing you coverage of ISTE 2011, live from Philadelphia. Maybe I'll be able to get back on here one more time to give a short take on something I saw in the exhibit hall, but if not, my next contribution will be back in the land of crabcakes and football. Thanks for following along with Caputo's Corner!
