Redskins 23 Seahawks 17-Game Analysis

Can somebody explain to me why there was so much bad blood between these two teams before and during this game?  Seriously, the Redskins were 3-7 and the Seahawks were 4-6.  Neither team really had any shot of the postseason before or after the game, so why did they hate each other like they were fighting for the conference championship?  This gamesmanship is downright stupid, and it carried over into the game with several personal foul and unsportmanlike conduct penalties that really took away from a fairly decent game to watch.  I say "decent" with a grain of salt considering that the records of the teams in question dictate that this game is NOT going to be decent at all.

So the Redskins finally won.  Should we throw a parade?  Hardly.  We saw some Good Rex, we saw some (very) Bad Rex.  Nevertheless, the Seahawks are a bad team...a very bad team.  Good teams should put these guys out of their misery quickly and painlessly.  We don't have that killer instinct.  Even as we scored touchdowns I never got excited.  I even made a quick trip to the grocery store in the 2nd quarter.  I guess it's hard to get excited when your team is out of the playoff picture.  However, I am pleased that they finally showed some life.  It will be short lived though (I think) as we play both the Jets and Patriots in back to back weeks.  We will enjoy this one for now though.

I must say a few things about Roy Helu.  This kid is money, and my decision to take a 12th round flyer on him in this year's fantasy draft is looking like it's going to pay off.  I might actually start him next week if Adrian Peterson is still hurt.  Yeah, yeah...I forgot to bench AP today.  What you gonna do?  Anyway, Roy Helu has some skills.  He has a good initial burst, and he can break tackles too.  His catch and run on a 3rd down play in the 4th quarter featured a leap over a defender at the 1st down line and he went on took it all the way to the house.  He scored almost 30 fantasy points and methinks that regardless of the quarterback situation, this kid out of Nebraska will have something to say in the offense for years to come.  I like this kid.  I want him to carry the ball a lot more than he already does, and if Shanahan is as committed to the run as we think he is, Helu will be THE guy in this offense for a long time.
