The most interesting names on the board as we enter the home stretch include Mark Ingram, Alabama running back and former Heisman Trophy winner, and Andy Dalton who ended his TCU college career with a victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl to complete a perfect season. Many thought both players would be off the board by now. Ingram is an outstanding power back with exceptional quickness who tore through SEC defenses as Alabama won a national title in 2009. Dalton has pinpoint accuracy as a passer and most of the pundits believed he would be part of the quarterback run earlier in the first round (especially if guys like Christian Ponder were picked).
AK believes that New England might be looking at Ingram. With the revolving door at running back they have had over the years, the pick makes sense. New England has already made one pick in the first round, taking Nate Solder, but they also hold pick #28. In fact, many of the teams remaining (playoff teams) don't really have a solid, Chris Johnson-esque, #1 running back. Ingram must be liking his situation, assuming he doesn't end the night in the Green Room.
Baltimore is on the clock right now, a team that has been very adept in the scouting with Ozzie Newsome as GM. They are probably not in the market for skill positions, so I feel like they would be looking more on the offensive line to give added protection to Flacco and Rice. Offensive line has been somewhat of a trouble spot for them in recent years, something they started to address last year in drafting Michael Oher from Mississippi.
Of course, as soon as finish singing Baltimore's praises in their drafting skills...they let the clock run out. Kind of a microcosm of the whole labor situation as it stands right now...
