The first couple picks should come as no surprise to anyone. In my first draft profile, I discussed the possibility of Cam Newton going to the Redskins at #10. Ever since then, as quarterback after quarterback failed to stand out at the various workouts, Newton slowly worked his way up the draft board. Ever since Andrew Luck decided to stay in school, the quarterback class was seriously weakened. Carolina needs a quarterback. Period. Newton represents the best option they have at that position, so long as free agency is out of the question. Period.
Von Miller was selected by Denver with the #2 pick. Despite his role in the ongoing labor strife, Miller was a dominating force as a linebacker at Texas A&M. The Butkus award winner from 2010 dominated opposing offensive lines and quarterbacks, and will be a very nice fit in a depleted Denver defensive backfield and linebacking corps.
Marcell Darius was just selected by Buffalo with the #3 pick. We'll have more analysis in a little bit.
By the way, would somebody please tell Mel Kiper to shut up? We need more Chris Berman in our lives. Thanks.
Mel Kiper is useless. Hell, all of the experts ESPN employs are useless. I think the average fan has a better shot at predicting the draft.
ReplyDeleteThat's where I come in! :-)
ReplyDeleteFor me, this blog and Twitter are the only two sources I am using to follow the draft. Mostly, I just don't care - since many of the players don't have any kind of immediate impact, if at all in the first place.
