The Jets are finished
Sanchez fumbles away a 3rd and 17 desperation heave and hurts his elbow thanks to Ike Taylor. There was a booth review as to whether or not the arm was going forward, but even if it had been, the Jets would have punted and the Steelers were gonna march it straight down.
The competitive portion of this game has effectively ended. Now that it is 24-0 the question is how long to do the Steelers keep their foot on the gas? Do they even take their foot off the gas? It is the playoffs after all. I'm sure we all remember the Giants and Eagles game from December 19th (right Josh?) that no lead is technically "safe."
That being said, the Jets look dazed and confused. Pittsburgh is in total control right now. They absolutely CANNOT allow the Jets to gain even a slight bit of confidence. They have already allowed them to move onto the Pittsburgh side of midfield, and they do get the 2nd half kick. If they get even a field goal here, they'll have something to build on. It's absolutely imperative for the Steelers here to get to the locker room with the shutout in tact.
UPDATE-The Jets did kick a field goal at the end of the half...although after failing to convert 2nd and 1 and 3rd and 1. However, the Jets do have something to work with at halftime and they get the ball to start. Hopefully for their sake they can think of something.
