Random Musings on a Friday Night

Not much really to discuss tonight.  After I finished the blog on Challenger, I spent most of the rest of the afternoon writing up "emergency" lesson plans for my math students.  Losing 3 days in a row of math class can really set you back.  I did a lesson on the Pythagorean Theorem for my geometry group (actually a lesson I wrote last year during the blizzards...nice timing, yes?).  I also did a lesson on rational equations for my algebra group.  I need to get back to work.  These snow days and power outage days are doing a number on me.

Now, when I started this blog, I had  very much intended to keep it topical.  Thus, the subject of this blog would never be the blogger himself.  However, in this case, I feel like a brief exception is in order.  So much for that, right?  Yes, I did win the RSPS Teacher of the Year award for 2011.  (Hip hip...hooray).  I don't do a good job of flattering myself for plaudits like this, so I let my sister do that for me. :-).  I like to think of it as doing my job every day, and trying to do it well to the best of my ability (no matter what the weather decides to do on a day-to-day basis).  I will be formally presented with the award on Monday.

I'm heading out a little bit later to play some cards with AK and a few of the guys from work.  Because you wanted to hear it (that's why you read this blog in the first place, right? :-) )...here's what's on my mind right now.

-I am sick of snow days.  I know that my wishes will probably go unfulfilled, but I sure do hope that we have seen the end of the snow for the season.  Next week's forecast doesn't look too good midweek.  Hopefully this next thing will blow over.

-If any of you guys are interested in some good hip hop covers, check out Flow in the Dark, who will be playing at PJ Skidoos in Fairfax tomorrow night.  They are expanding their music library every time they have a gig, check them out.

-If smooth rock covers tickle your fancy, check out High Heat.  Their next gig is at the Friendly Inn in Ellicott City on March 5th.  Smooth rock, soul, motown, and rhythm...good stuff.

-I am finalizing my schedule for Super Bowl Preview Week.  Here's what I got lined up:
Monday-Top 5 Worst Super Bowls of all time
Tuesday-Steelers vs. Packers: The Tale of the Tape
Wednesday-An Ode to Media Day
Thursday-Official Prop Forecast
Friday-Super Bowl Ads Through the Years

I'm really looking forward to putting these posts together.  I actually have already finished the first one...can't wait until Monday to release it!  I hope you like them.

That's all I got for now.  I'm out $40 to one of the guys I'm playing tonight in cards...got some work to do, yes? :-)
