In case you didn't hear, the Jets' Antonio Cromartie used a dirty word when asked what he thought of Tom Brady in the lead up to the Jets-Patriots playoff game this weekend. Apparently, everybody's got an opinion, including former World Series MVP Reggie Jackson who basically told Cromartie to just shut up.
It's pretty simple really. To summarize what Jackson said, Brady can do basically whatever he wants to you...you being the Jets...because he's got 3 Super Bowl rings and 2 MVPs. What do you have, Antonio? Don't answer that. You want him to not point at your bench after throwing a TD pass? Make sure that that particular TD pass doesn't make the score 38-3 Patriots.
If the Jets win on Sunday, well then all bets are off.
Reggie's comments are so ironic...he was the same guy who said he was the second most important black baseball player ever behind Jackie Robinson. He also said that he didn't come to NY to be a star, he brought his star with him. He also said he was the straw that stirred the drink.
ReplyDeleteProbably the wrong guy to speak about toning it down. But that's just my opinion.
Perhaps Reggie has matured a little since 1977, perhaps not. Perhaps this is all just a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you, but I find it highly amusing that no one is actually disputing the contents of Cromartie's comment concerning Brady. They are more concerned that such thoughts were aired publicly. Otherwise, they got no problem with Tom Brady being called an a-hole.
ReplyDeleteEerily similar, now that you mention it, to when Seymour KOed Roethlisberger. He had to be ejected, but nobody really seemed to mind after the fact considering WHO got one-punched.
